It’s the first snow of the year! All praise Ochublau and his glorious blizzards!
All praise Ochublau! May his wintery blessings be carried southward, so that all may revel in white and powdery glory!
Doesn’t count! It hasn’t snowed here yet! Please don’t burst my bubble!!!!
Hmm, we really must standardize this celebration for Achublau. I’m pretty sure our other one wasn’t predicated upon the first snow of the year, seeing as it was in… March? But yes. It must not be like those silly holidays that aren’t set on a specific day.
While he does seem to love snow the most, we mustn’t forget he is the god of weather, not just snow. We need a day the whole world can celebrate simultaneously to honor one of our favorite gods.
Mila, as our resident Achublau expert, perhaps you could weigh in?
Boffin is correct that, in its original constitutionally-instituted form, Ochublau Day was intended to be celebrated in Spring, on the day of and the day following the first thunderstorm of the year (whenever that happened to take place, in any given locality.) That said, Ochublau has never been averse to changing the game on a moment’s whim, and who could say no to an excuse for more partying? More celebration? More fun?
Therefore, it is my expert opinion that Ochublau Day could easily be extended to a biannual celebration, encompassing both the first thunderstorm of Spring and the first snowstorm of winter! What better way to celebrate the duality, the diversity, the mystique of weather in all its forms?
As for Boffin’s desire for a standardized international celebration of Ochublau day – why not ask Ochublau himself? Think of it: twice a year, Ochublau could summon his powers to create a massive weather event, great enough to encompass every place in this world where people know his name! Nations would unite in awe of the majesty of weather!
After all, what could be more fun than that?
…If anyone wants me, I’ll be in my igloo with my hot cocoa and generator from Mercury, preparing for Snowmaggedon.
I’m glad you support my proposal! I’ll let Ochublau know about the changes.
Perhaps, to make this a bit more manageable…
I believe Mila and I have between the two of us several instruments that can change the weather. We can agreed to a specific day and leave the big guy out of it.
AND, we can turn it into an international festival! The Ochulympics! Or something like that (we’ll get Baldawin on it). A competition with events tied to the season (so, snowball fights in winter, and water balloon fights in thunderstorm season).
Courtesy of Baldawin the Bard:
Come, celebrate the wind, the rain, the snow,
The clouds above and thunderclaps below!
Oh Ochublau, send forth your lightning flames!
Inaugurate the Ochulympic Games!
I approve of these “Achulympics!” Naturally we should let Dyfwethil, home of Achublau’s favorite princess, be the first host of these celebrations, though Taradonia will wish to host one day! I will have to get some designs working for giant snow/ice structures for Loom to create for the Winter games!
